Personal Protective Equipment

Safety Glasses

Recommended during prolonged UV exposure or when inspecting reflective materials.

Lab Coat

Recommended when working with fluorescent chemicals or dyes.

Hazards

  • Bright ultraviolet light may cause eye discomfort with prolonged exposure.
  • Housing becomes warm during extended operation.
  • Electrical hazard if used around liquids.
  • Trip hazard from power cord.
  • May reveal fluorescent contaminants not otherwise visible.

Things to Avoid

  • Do not use as a germicidal UV sterilization lamp.
  • Do not use for UV resin curing unless specifically validated.
  • Do not expose the fixture to rain or excessive moisture.
  • Do not stare directly into the LEDs for extended periods.
  • Do not cover the cooling surfaces while operating.
  • Do not touch the housing immediately after prolonged use, as it may be hot.

Safety Checks

  • Inspect power cord for damage.
  • Verify mounting bracket is secure.
  • Ensure ventilation openings are unobstructed.
  • Position the light away from water or wet work surfaces.
  • Confirm surrounding materials are not heat sensitive.

Operational Checks

  • Position the light before powering on.
  • Avoid looking directly into the LEDs.
  • Turn off ambient lighting for best fluorescence.
  • Allow adequate airflow around the fixture.
  • Monitor housing temperature during extended use.
  • Turn off before adjusting the mounting angle.

Cleanup

  • Disconnect power before cleaning.
  • Allow the fixture to cool before handling.
  • Wipe housing and lens with a soft, dry microfiber cloth.
  • Store in a clean, dry location.
  • Wrap the power cord loosely to prevent damage.
